Spreading Bamboo
One of the most decorative woody bamboos. No other plant can boast such black stems. Young culms emerge green but change to almost black by the end of the first season. Mature culms are ebony black.
Lush green leaves create a delicate canopy. Lower branches can be cut back to show off the lustrous black stems. Spreading root system needs containment when planted in the landscape. Allow ample room to "run" or install rhizome (root) barrier. Makes a beautiful potted plant for patios and interiors. Use as a hedge or screen, or create a "grove".
